Alex specializes in commercial, financial services and general civil litigation and arbitration. In his 48 years at the bar and on the bench Alex has acquired a wealth of experience in all aspects of litigation at all court levels. He was a Judge of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands from 2003 to 2015 and a member of the Court’s Financial Services Division. He has delivered the second largest number of judgments in the Court’s history.
Alex was a Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia from 1995 to 2003. He practiced as a barrister in Canada from 1970 to 1995 and was made a Queen’s Counsel in 1992.
Alex is also a current editor of the Cayman Islands Law Reports, a member of the Law Reform Commission, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and of INSOL.
He was appointed to the Constitutional Commission effective 3 March 2025 until 2 March 2029.
