Sophia-Ann Harris (née Solomon) is the founder of the law firm Solomon Harris which was established in 1987 and of which she was the firm's Managing Partner. The firm merged with Bedell Cristin in 2018 and Mrs. Harris continued as Managing Partner until she retired from the firm on the 15th August 2020. While she was in practice she served as a council member of the Cayman Islands Law Society and the Caymanian Bar Association.

Mrs. Harris' specialties during her tenure with Solomon Harris and then Bedell Cristin  included banking, investment funds, corporate and commercial law, trusts (she was a  Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), immigration, and all aspects of Cayman Islands licensing laws. 

Mrs. Harris was appointed Chairman of the Government’s Immigration ‘Business Staffing Plan Board’  and subsequently served as Chairman of the Immigration Appeals Tribunal. Mrs. Harris presently serves on the Anti-Corruption Commission, and on 15 August 2020 was appointed Chairman until the end of her current tenure in 2022.  

Mrs. Harris is past Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Ltd. and continues to sit on its board. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Caribbean Utilities Company Ltd the public electric utility service provider in Grand Cayman.

Mrs. Harris is past President of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce and during her term with the Chamber, she has addressed the United Nations on several occasions including the United Nations General Assembly on constitutional matters for the Cayman Islands. Mrs. Harris was the first female to be appointed as a President of the Rotary Clubs in Cayman and subsequently acted as the first female Assistant Governor for the Rotary Clubs of the Cayman Islands

 

Mrs. Harris was appointed as a Member on 1 January 2020 for a two year term.
